Before the 20th century, buildings were constructed of full width, load-bearing stone masonry. Many of these structures have been neglected or poorly renovated with incompatible patching materials. Our goal at Kopelov Cut Stone, Inc. is to preserve the integrity and aesthetic value of these historic structures, by using natural stone for replacement and “Dutch” repairs.
Our first choice is to locate the original stone used in these old structures. Often it is no longer quarried. We make every effort to research this original stone and seek permission to quarry limited amounts for a project, if possible. Otherwise, we can offer alternative samples that approximate the color and texture of the original.
Recent projects — 690 Market St., San Francisco, CA; Federal Courthouse, Santa Fe, NM; and Roosevelt Park, Albuquerque, NM.
We welcome inquiries from anywhere in the USA.
